November Newsletter

Advent is approaching and it seems, at least to me each year, that I am always in a state of Wonder over the season which, this year, starts on November 27 and ends Christmas Eve. Advent is defined in the following way using words such as, arrival, appearance, emergence, dawn, birth, approach, and nearing. It is the arrival of someone notable. For the year of ministry ends for us but an Advent of Wonder and anticipation awaits us as well for 2023. Let us join in together, in this Advent 2022 season and simply Wonder with joy what this coming season and this coming King, Jesus, will bring to the earth and to our lives.

Elizabeth Stuart Phelps writes about this Advent of Jesus so beautifully. Another year of ministry ends, Relieving so many of guilt and shame; A sinner believes - a new life begins, Because in his heart, he whispers that Name. Another Christmas season dawns Bringing its message, ever the same; A mother sighs, A Baby yawns, And in His heart, he whispers your name. In the pure soul, although it sing or pray, The Christ is born anew from day to day; The life that knoweth Him shall bide apart and keep eternal Christmas in the heart.

We approach Advent 2022 with Wonderat what Jesus can and will do for us if we have hearts that are open. Our journey begins, friends, with Wonder and joy, together.

In Christ,

Pastor Dan
